Cancel your subscription
How to cancel a Pro or Premium subscription, when the change takes effect, and what happens to your data.
More in Account, Billing & Troubleshooting
You can cancel a Pro or Premium subscription at any time. Cancellation is self-serve through Stripe's customer portal, takes about a minute, and never deletes your data.
Open billing
From the sidebar, go to Settings → Billing. You'll see your current plan and a Manage subscription button. Click it.
You'll be redirected to a secure Stripe page hosted at billing.stripe.com. This is the same portal Stripe uses for thousands of products; we don't store your card details ourselves and we don't see them.
Cancel the plan
In the portal, click Cancel plan. Stripe will ask you to confirm. Once confirmed, the cancellation is locked in.
When the change takes effect
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — not immediately. You keep Pro or Premium features until the date your current month or year was paid through. After that date you're moved to the Free plan.
Examples:
- You pay monthly, billed on the 15th, and you cancel on the 22nd. You keep the paid features until the next 15th.
- You pay annually, last renewed on January 1, and cancel in June. You keep the paid features until December 31.
If you change your mind before the end of the period, you can resume the same subscription from the same Stripe portal — no need to re-enter card details.
What happens to your data
Cancellation is purely a billing change. Your account, your snapshots, your goals, your plans, and your history all stay exactly as they were. The only things that change:
- Pro and Premium-only features become read-only or unavailable in the UI.
- Any in-progress optimisation runs that depend on Pro features will pause.
Your historical data stays accessible on the Free plan. You can export everything from Settings → Export at any time, before or after cancelling.
Closing your account entirely
Cancellation stops the subscription. It doesn't delete your account.
To delete the account itself and all associated data, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion is permanent and removes every snapshot, goal, plan, and household record we hold for you. We can't recover deleted data, so download an export first if you want a copy.
When to email us instead
The self-serve flow handles most cases. Email support@havenfinance.app if:
- You can't reach the Stripe portal (rare; usually a browser-extension issue).
- You want a refund for an unused portion of the period (we'll consider it case-by-case).
- You were charged after cancelling.
- You're cancelling because something is broken — we'd genuinely like to know what before you go.
